false information to the police. he is expected to answer to unrelated charges. >>> president obama unveiled a major initiative to map the humane brain, to unlock the mysteries of the brain to find cures for debilitating diseases. as janine de la vega reports, a bay area professor is slated to play a major role in the so- called brain initiative. good afternoon janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. there are super-scientists in the white house with president obama. today, mr. obama announced he's asking the congress to spend $100 million to fund the brain initiative. it's a new project that maps the human brain in an attempt to find cures for diseases, such alzheimer's parkinson's and even reverse the effects of a stroke. this man is co-chairing. committee of the supersmitts and they will spend the next year -- superscientists and they will spend the next year outlining the program. >> this is an initiative that will hopefully produce better and more useful maps that will enable people who are studying the brain in all different ways to do it

playing live music. the president's motorcade arrived at 11:30 this morning. secret police escorting him out of public view. a handful of neighbors gathered outside this atherton house where president obama spoke for about 20 minutes raising money for the dnc. the cost to get inside, a mere $1,000 to $20,000. >> health care finished, we've got to get control. >> those are the things most important. real lafgt issues for this country. >> reporter: a lot of what the attendees were telling us today is that the bottom line is to get that money to get the control back of the house, of the democratic party. they want control. the first one was just about two and a half miles away. 30 guests, a lot more intimate. they paid about $32,000 a pop. so a lot of money being raised. there was a small protest. a couple dozen people protesting the key stone pipeline project that was nearby that location. but that's not the only thing the president has been facing. why he is being criticized for the way he is fundraising. that's coming up at 6:00. live in atherton, nbc bay area news. >> in front of john g
